Robin van Persie to start against the Spuds?

November 19, 2010

This is the rumour doing the rounds late on Friday evening, the eve of the massive North London Derby on Saturday Lunchtime.

I don’t see it myself, 45 minutes for the Dutch in midweek was all well and good, but Chamakh will start the game for my money, he has been a massive player for us so far this term.

Robin off the bench at some point is what I envisage, winning, losing or drawing, we will get a view of RvP at some point, just not off the bat.

My money is on Chamakh either getting us the penalty for Cesc to score the first goal, or the lad himself banging in the opener, I love him, he is pure class, runs his heart out, has touch, vision… one of the best free transfers in history.

Not just for Arsenal, but including every free transfer for any team anywhere in the planet since records began, he is that good for nothing.. not a penny, not a sausage…. what is he worth now if we sold him? 20?

We go to stick with the excellent central defensive partnership forged by Squillaci and Djourou over the past few weeks, their height will help to combat the freak show that is Peter Crouch.

In goal, lets hope Fab1 has another blinder.

Midfield is the key, this is where most games are won or lost for me, and with Cesc and Song picking themselves, the third spot seems a straight out fight between Jack and Denilson… Diaby if fit would have been the pick for me.. but you know that already.

I have a feeling the boss will pick Denilson, who was wonderful last Sunday off the bench at Everton, truly class display to help our midfield take a stronger hold of the game.

Spuds will narrow the midfield, they will force the issue there, so lets see what the boss decides… Jack or Den.. maybe even Rosicky? Whoever he picks is cool with me, I love the entire squad.

I really don’t think we have any weak links myself.

Bloody hell am I up for this one, not sure I am going to get much sleep ahead of this one… circumstances conspire to prevent me taking up a booth at the Emirates, but I shall be watching on the box, cans of Guinness to hand!

The match will be more than just another Derby Day… this one proper counts!

I think RVP will start and Chamakh will be rested for Braga which a vital must-not-lose game. Arshavin will be on the bench definitely and Eboue may come in on the right to double-team Bale with Nasri switching to the left.

The threat of Van Der Vaart means that Song HAS to do his job – that is defensive midfielder. He needs to be told he’s not Lampard! If he is up the other end when/if VDV scores from a Crouch knockdown, he will have let us down.

Clichy is the weak link. He owes us a big game. Sagna on the hand is different gravy this season.

Goons to bag it late 2-0 – RVP to open the scoring with a special!
