Hypocritical Gooners take a bow

April 29, 2010

You know who you are.

You are the one’s who moan and groan when a talentless side like Blackburn or Stoke come to the Emirates and park the bus, even City done it last weekend.

Check what you were posting on various blogs Saturday night!!

Yet, just a few days later, when a team full of both Attacking and Defensive superstars park the bus at Camp Nou… you all want to fall over yourselves in congratulating them and their repulsive manager.

Way before they had a man sent off they had decided to employ all their players in outright defensive positions, with only Diego Milito as an outlet to chance what he could do by himself on the break.

Possibly Eto’o was going to muster up some drive to help the Argentine, but the rest were happy with the bus driver at the other end.

Yes you can counter with “at least they won”… well the next time a pony side come and nick a bore draw against us after parking the bus for 90 minutes, you must applaud them for “not losing”

Right?

The portugeezer is the worst hypocrite of the lot… remember this little pearler from September 2004?

“As we say in Portugal, they brought the bus and they left the bus in front of the goal. I would have been frustrated if I had been a supporter who paid £50 to watch this game because Spurs came to defend. There was only one team looking to win, they only came not to concede – it’s not fair for the football we played.”

The true hypocrite is the one who ceases to perceive his or her deception … and continues to lie with sincerity!

I think most of the ire is directed towards our inability to break down those defences than the tactics of the opposition.

If anything, it’s the dozy AKB’s who criticise the opposition instead of looking closer to home.

You are wrong did you hear what Barcelona went up to try and Beat Inter Milan, Police coming to arrest 4 am in morning on pretence he didn’t pay taxi fair, Or hiring hotel rooms above inter Players and making all noises until 5 am in morning, Plus throwing firework on hotel window?

They tried every trick they could muster to beat Inter, Mourinho was almost attacked before the game and afterwards why?

Most people who complain about team negative defending with 11 men are AKB, We supported Arsenal when they use to be most negative team ever on earth under George Graham. Wenger and Arsenal cannot play like Barcelona so comparing them is crazy. Arsenal cannot even breakdown the most offensive minded teams like Burnley so please spare us your moral high ground.

  4. 7masters – read the post again, hopefully you will understand it the second time.

good luck, may the force be with you.

Yeah and which team is in the final? The team that deserved it over the two legs. Mourinho is a great manager and would never settle for half of the bollocks that we have to see week in week out

Hwak ..watching last nights game a strange thing occurred to me..Barca’s forward three are arguable better than ours but their options on the bench were hardly frightening options were they?? I mean I know Bojan is a great prospect…prospect thats all..Henry..not the same player and Jaffran nothing special from what I have seen and it was only Iniasta they were missing from their offensive unit…and even a team with Messi, Xavi and a 60 mill striker seem to miss one v good player and when we played them away off the 3 midfielder and three forwards we played on the night only two would have played had we had the strongest team available..I personaly would be happy to have NB52, Theo, Risiy, Eduardo et al as back up than Bojan, TH and Jafferan and even at the back they had to play a make shift CB a CB to play LB and the LB on the bench..just wonder…it kind of made me think as putting a squad together AW might have put it together slowly but a very very strong squad nevertheless ..what you make of it all

  8. I think we are slowly but surely almost there, dislhan

Just 3 top notch players bought in over the summer, now that we are financially able to, and we will have a squad to challenge all comers.

Just a shame certain sections of our fanbase cannot see this.

It’s black and white from where i am sitting.

  9. wan said

well there’s a difference between getting a point in the emirates and going into cl semi’s with a 3-1 lead.

  10. fair point, wan

    i do not deny that

imo, tony pulis could have managed those players in that inter side last night to defend for a 1-0 loss

too much is being made over how special jm is.. is it harder to defend and win?

    or to attack and win?

  11. keysersoze said

Erm, i think you missed something there. Since we are talking about a two legged knockout game, yesterday’s game was actually the second half, the first half having been won by inter by 3 goals to 1.

In contrast Stoke Blackburn and Man City park the bus from the outset, when the score is 0-0. Let them win the first half and then park the bus in the second, no one would complain. So before calling others hypocrites, you would do well to take a couple of deep breaths and think.

hawk talking of JM I think he has got lucky with the CL draw this season..Now that might sound crazy as he has played both Chelski and Barca..but when you think about it..the Chelski players are still in Love with him and be happy to give their wives to him..I read that few hours before the game he was txting Chelski players and as he knows them v well he managed to take the fire out of Chelski players…as for barca with the press conference he actually made sure that Barca were obssed with JM more than about playing at Bernabou…and the in- experienced manager did not see what was coming and barca ended up playing JM rather than Inter..now trust me bayern will be a different game for them..There is not history between them and JM for him to play the mind games and distract the bayern players..JM will set a team out to defend again but will get caught out and end up loosing 1-0

  13. interesting, dilshan

also, the bayern coach van gaal, is one of JM’s mentors from his days as a translator/assistant coach at barca.

when bobby robson got tin-tacked, van gaal lthe new coach at the camp nou kept him on.

so his mind games won’t be as effective for the final.

Hawke, I believe your admiration for Wenger is so strong that you can’t see the talent of another manager.

There is absolutely no way Tony Pulis could have managed those Inter players last night. Nothing against Pulis, but this Barcelona we’re talking about. At Camp Nou. With one extra player.

I dislike JM just as much as the next guy, but there’s no denying the guy is an absolute genius.

  15. holden – that team last night that inlcuded lucio, samuel, zanetti, maicon, and cambiasso as a DM are a team that were assembled and won 3 straight titles… by mancini not jm.

to ask those bunch of nutters to defend for their lives last night was like asking dracula to have a field day in a darkened cemetery.

they only know how to defend, they were all monster defenders before jm come along.

he is overrated, until he builds a team from scratch, he will just be another very good manager who knows all the dirty tricks to get a defensive team the result.

first leg was a joke, offside goals, blatant pens not given.

JM genius my back side .. genius is some one whos work exceeds expectations and what has been achieved by the contemporariness..surpassing excellence…its got to be more than original and creative..and I sure did not see any of this last night…very good tactician and motivator he is but I would not even regard him as a great MANAGER..to accept him as a great MANAGER he has to prove he can build teams to win trophies not multimillion pound/euro superstars put together to win trophies ..and when it goes a bit wrong complain about not having enough money..remeber at chelski the story of Class A and Class B egges when the money was bit tight and going got tough..Ow then I forget we all have sort memories and that thing about selective memory (whatever its called …)

I would claim the what Hodgson is doing at Fulham is more of a work of genius than what JM is doing..what the invincible s did was work of genius,…I thought I am the only foreigner in this site but it seems most of them are as no one even knows what a genius is

JM won it with porto. Put it this way, he’s good at countering the opposing team’s strong points. And by having that mindset, he’s always proactive in his tactics which leads his teams to being defensive and doing just what it takes to win. Nothing more nothing less. You cant look at the cl 2nd leg as 1 stand alone game, it’s basically the 2nd half.

The game changed with the red card, no? They scored 3 goals againts Barca didnt they?

with 10 men you defend especially dealing with the likes of Barca.

I am not hating at all! well done to Inter.

The game was crap overall but they did what they had to do going down a man.

  21. munawwar said

    amazing stuff.

we do get angry when blackburn and other teams play for a draw. and defend all the time. i see now that for these teams its impossible to play against arsenal. so they defend. similarly inter could not play that way with barca. its just the nature of the game.

in the coming season we shall remember this blog. sometimes the talent in the other team is soo good that you have to “park the bus”. we didnt do it. we tried playing and got out played.

so we have to make decisions. do we want a particular style of play or do we want to win? sure we would want to win with our own style. but currently we are not. so we have to choose.

i think, (for those who seem to have a problem with thinking i’ll explain) what Hawk is trying to say is that YES, great achievement Inter and JM! Pity about the way they went about it b.cause its bad football. A hypocrite is someone who complains about something yet is guilty of it himself, ie. JM. I do remember that interview in 2004, he said the same thing after a Wigan game that ended goalless as well. Anyone who would complain about that being done to their team yet applaud the tactic when roles are reversed is a hypocrite. I 4 one couldnt care who wins the CL unless its AFC. Barca, well i.m.o they are cheaters. From Messi down to Busquets. Remember the yellow card Song got 4 Messi’s acting? Another thought, I think a new acronym is needed. I will make it AAWB. Stands 4 ‘Anti Arsene Wenger Brigade’. Its more boring listening to u lot than any AKB chants! Wake up! There is NO manager who could replace him. If there was, other clubs would be in less debt, have bigger stadiums and we would be striving to be like them. Its a simple mathematical equation. How many clubs have had a manager 4 more than 5 years? O yeh! NONE except us and Manure, and LFC is close and look where that got them! JM is a great manager. Unfortunately only as long as enuff money is available 4 him to keep buying trophy’s! Thats it to AAWB, go support Hull, thats where you belong!

  23. marco said

and by the way Wan, it all depends what side of the fence you are on. Taking a point at the emirates by defending with the league as close as it is this season, is just like a CL final. Imagine loosing the league by one point!

  24. munawwar said

    haha.. marco.. good stuff…

what is more funny is the arsenal news review blog. he is sooo fucking frustrated. he dosent know what to do. he hates arsenal. but he saw barca do something arsenal have done so he is loosing his mind. its just incredible.

he doesn’t know how to react now. what to say in blogs. its amazing.

this is happening to him because he has no own thoughts. he just goes with results and no history and no reflection. its just based on results. what an idiot.! i am so thankful inter won just to read his totally frustrated and confused blog.

True enough marko,1 point does contribute to relegation, a cl spot or the league title but what im trying to say is that any team 3-1 up against barca would have parked the bus in the 2nd leg in the nou camp. But im not raving about JM’s anti football tactic here, he did what he thought would beat arguably the best team in the world and it worked. I thought the first leg was a masterpiece (with help from the officials) Iam not sure if i would be happy if JM replaced AW if it ever happpens, you can be sure to have a very strong hard to beat cup winning team but at the cost of somewhat consistent entertaining football. hmmm

  26. with money, AW is pound for pound the best manager in the world.

when he had money to spend in the early 2000’s he created an invincible side… a feat that will take decades, maybe centuries, to match.

from this summer… he can compete again!!

Guys Jm is a legend and at Inter he has only bought few players to take one stage further. I know we hated him at Chelsea but in Inter is proved himself great tactian. Wenger should have won more FA cup, League titles and possibly two Champion League or three Losing at final, Semi final stage or coming second to Manchester United.

The reasons for these is due to lack of preparation or knowing weakness in other team. It good just to play your game but what happen when other side have worked out your play patterns like most team do In league. Barcelona where defeated mentally before they even played Inter in second of knock out game why? they responded to his taunts cause their where driven by obsessions to play in Real ground. Sad but sometimes ‘Spurs syndrome goes to unlikely places’ Loool

Arsene Wenger has been great for Arsenal and but need to have to get tough or let someone else take them over the line. What is these bizz with Sylvester? or Aluminia, or conceding soft goals for last few years, or selling players etc Hleb, henry when others make to much noise? why sell players. So many weird decisions being made on daily basis has left everyone sour. The worse are those who seem to get excited each time wenger is mentioned.

Mistakes are made by everyone and it time he took these on board instead of lying to himself and fans.

If you really watched the game, they parked the bus due to the way the game was panning out and not as a strategy from the dressing room. You can only play if u have the ball, right?
